2 Corinthians: The Church Victorious in Weakness Part Sixteen.
Dear Church,
We made it safely to the District Conference. The Lord has been kind to meet us here. Craig Smith is the speaker and has shared his experience of 40 years of ministry to Native Americans and his experience of God’s providence in a car crash he had in 2009. He was in a coma for two months, had an open book pelvic fracture, and 21 surgeries to repair the damage. It’s a miracle that he survived and that he’s walking (as limited as it is). I encourage you to go to his website and hear him tell his story.
Also, I’d like to encourage you all to attend the Wednesday morning prayer at 6am led by Arlene Lageson at the church. I thoroughly enjoyed the prayer time last week, and will miss attending tomorrow morning. The point of early morning prayer time is easy to miss. To wake up early is our prayer to God, “This much do I want you! I want you more than sleep!” Prayer is our heart’s cry, “I need you! I need your help!” Martin Luther understood this need in the midst of busyness. He said, “I generally pray two hours every day, except on very busy days. On those days, I pray three.” He was too busy not to pray. Prayer is a discipline. The more you exercise your faith in prayer, the better you will get at it.
Men, I especially long to see you leading our church and your families in setting the pattern for us our a prayer-saturated church. Waking up early to pray is hard because the flesh is weak. Godly men ought to seek out hard things. It is manly to show your need of Christ in some hard endeavor. How we need men who pray! Prayer is the fuel that powers the church. Without it, we sit in silence.
Thank you Arlene and Al for leading us repeatedly into the presence of God! I will be with you in spirit.
Pastor Elijah
